If it's good enough for Mother Teresa, it's good enough for me

I am not a religious person, but things like this keep finding me and speaking to me lately. There is some unmet need that needs to be filled in me, I think.

I am going to read this every morning when I awake.
I can think of far worse ways to start my day.

May it bring you the peace that it has brought to me.

"People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered.
Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives.
Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies.
Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you.
Be honest and sincere anyway.

What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight.
Create anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous.
Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, will often be forgotten.
Do good anyway.

Give the best you have, and it will never be enough.
Give your best anyway.

In the final analysis, it is between you and God.

It was never between you and them anyway."

On the one hand I want to say get over it, they didn't really hurt you, they just said bad things about you.

On the other hand, whoever said "sticks and stones..." was a complete idiot. Words can hurt much more than physical pain.

I know it's easy to obsess about these things. No great advice, just letting you know I get where you're coming from.
